Dee-Zol Life

Fuel Stabilizer

Finished_Fuel

The longer fuel is stored, the ever-greater the chance of its condition changing for the worse. Yet, storing fuel for more than a few months can be done - but not without help.

Those who manage fuel know by now that today’s fuels are more susceptible, not just to microbial contaminations but to stability problems, than in the past. The problem-free storage life of fuels today is substantially shorter than it used to be.

If you manage stored fuels, you’re likely past the point of having to be convinced of that. You might have relatively fresh fuel in your system that needs to be protected. You might be looking for the appropriate solution to keep your fuel protected.

You know you need to incorporate fuel stabilizer into your fuel maintenance routines. For this, Dee-Zol Life fuel stabilizer is the choice you need.

Stabilizers Protect….But They’re Not All The Same

At their core(s), fuel stabilizers all try to do the same thing - keep the stored fuel’s condition from changing as it gets exposed to the actors in the environment that normally catalyze these changes.

Inherently, that’s what “stability” and “stabilizer” are all about. Something is “stable” when it resists change, when it stays the same. “Stability” is the characteristic of something that means that thing itself stays the same and doesn’t change.

For fuel, “stability” means its important combustion properties don’t change over time. And since all fuel starts out fresh and ready to burn at its best, Dee-Zol Life fuel stabilizer is used to keep the fuel from moving away from that condition.

If your fuel changes color or develops noticeable sediment, that means its condition isn’t staying the same, it’s changing. And that could mean it’s combustion properties have changed for the worse. You don’t want to find out this has happened in the moment you need your stored fuel to perform as you need it. Using fuel stabilizer like Dee-Zol Life keeps this from happening.

What Makes A Good Fuel Stabilizer

deezol_life_quart_gallonA good fuel stabilizer like Dee-Zol Life is going to work in several important ways, because Dee-Zol Life is a combination of multiple active ingredients that each perform an important function in keeping the fuel’s condition the way it should be.

It should stop oxidation chain reactions from starting (because exposure to oxygen is one of the big ways fuel condition degrades).

It should isolate any reactive elements already in the fuel from attacking other parts of the fuel and starting it down the degradation path.

It should work to keep any gum and varnish precursors in the fuel suspended, separated and dispersed, so they can be burned as normal without causing problems.

It should function to stop any chemical reaction catalyzed from the fuel being exposed to reactive metals it come across.

All of these factors contribute to the development of instability in untreated fuel. Putting Dee-Zol Life in your fuel protects it against all of these bad actors.

It Does Matter When You Use It

Fuel stabilizers like Dee-Zol Life fall into the category of fuel treatments that function best as preventive treatments - their biggest value comes in what they stop from happening.

Stabilizers prevent the chemical reactions from happening that normally would degrade the fuel’s quality. If they can’t get started, the fuel’s condition doesn’t change. And that’s what you want. No change in condition.

Add Dee-Zol Life as early in the fuel’s storage life as possible, when the fuel is at its best. Dee-Zol Life will work to keep it that way.

It Doesn’t Matter What You Use It With

Because fuel stabilizers like Dee-Zol Life are considered essentials for fuel maintenance, they have to be able to be used alongside other types of fuel treatment chemistries the stored fuel may need. So whether it’s biocides, sludge dispersants, cetane improvers or even cold weather antigel treatments in the winter, you can have confidence that Dee-Zol fuel stabilizer is compatible with any and all of these other important treatments.

What If Your Fuel Is Already Showing Signs?

Yes, it’s always best to add stabilizer as early on as possible. But sometimes fuel managers find the condition of their fuel degraded and may ask if Dee-Zol Life has any positive effect on that kind of situation?

In fuel with instability products already present - maybe it’s got visible sediment or the color has stratified - Dee-Zol Life can play an important role in the process of ensuring that fuel is useable and doesn’t get worse.

Fuel that’s already showing signs of degradation will have lots of reactive precursors already in the fuel. Adding Dee-Zol Life to that kind of stuff stops those molecules from further degrading the fuel. And that means it can raise the fuel’s stability score even when it’s dropped to a subpar level.

Single Function Power

Dee-Zol Life is a single-function commercial grade stabilizer. That means it's formulated to do one thing but do it better than anything else.

Sometimes you'll see multi-function products in the marketplace that claim to do 6 or 7 or 10 different things, often at unusually low treat rates. Whenever a formula makes this kind of claim, you should always take that with a grain of salt because those kind of do-it-all products usually don't have enough of any one component to do anything particularly well. To borrow someone else's phrase, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

A Little Goes A Long Way

Dee-Zol Life is a commercial grade protectant that works its protective magic at the relatively low treat rate of 1:2000. This means the cost for protecting your stored fuel stays low enough to fit within your fuel maintenance budget.

Dee-Zol Life is available in a variety of sizes to meet your fuel treatment needs. 32 oz bottles, 1-gallon bottles and 2.5-gallon jugs for small to medium tanks. And for larger jobs, 55-gallon drums and 250-gallon totes.
