The 2017 Florida Tow Show is coming up on April 20th in Orlando. Hard to believe folks would want to come down to Florida for a trade show, right?
Topics like managing transport (towing) jobs, winning the online battle for cash calls, and the whys/whats/hows of operational productivity are on the schedule to be discussed during breakout sessions.
Also sure to be of interest are the changes in the state of Florida’s towing statutes that have impacted the towing industry over the last few years.
New rules that went in to place in the prime market of Central Florida in November 2014 forced the towing industry to significantly change some long-time practices. They could no longer use spotters to watch areas for cars to tow away. Towing companies were/are required to post tow-away-zone signs that direct motorists on where they could find their vehicles. And the rules mandate that towing firms have to accept debit or credit cards instead of being cash only.
Another rule that has seen pushback from some community areas is a requirement that property owners have to sign off in writing whenever a tow truck removes a vehicle. Central Florida/Orlando has a lot of gated communities that have tow contracts to enforce rules against overnight parking, and they have complained that the new ordinance makes it unduly difficult to enforce their own rules.
The impact of these and other rules are sure to be discussed at the 2017 Florida Tow Show.
